This week we are at the hall for our final preparations before Stradbroke Cup!!
It is vital that you attend this weeks regular night of Scouting if you are attending Stradie, as we will be giving you the last pieces of info you need.
We will also finish off building our hovercrafts and finally be able to use them!!

7pm – Tues 5th March
Drop off and pick up:

We announced that there will be another bring a friend prize of $200 towards anything within 5th/6th. Whether you want the money to go towards your Jamboree fee or a 5th/6th hoodie. This will be running for 6 months and the youth member with the most friends to have joined Scouting at 5th/6th will receive the prize.
Congrats to Sidney and Hili who won our last bring a friend prize!!
Remember to BRING A FRIEND each week to show them how cool Scouting can be!!

Brendan thought that not enough of the Scouts actually read the email and have no clue what we are doing each week.
So, to make sure that they read the emails and sign up for everything, he is donating $5 to the FIRST Scout to find a spelling or grammatical mistake within the emails.
An extra 50c will be added on top for every extra mistake you find.
The money can only be redeemed once you have signed up for AJ2025.
Make sure to be the first find any mistakes and text or email Brendan before anyone else does!!

Week two of two consecutive Sundays in Elwood!!

It’s down to the last 3 triathlon fundraisers this season!!
We need to make the most of these important remaining opportunities. We need 16-18 of you, your friends & family to help run 3 drink stations.

Our Scout Group community is 180+ strong.
This triathlon season, only 47 of you have volunteered, which is under 25%. Of the 47, almost 20% are the leaders & committee members who already donate their time running 5th/6th.
If you haven’t volunteered, this Sunday is your opportunity to step up & register to help!

7:00am – 11:30am Sunday 3rd March

The weather looks promising so come for some fun, action & fresh air!
Volunteers’ free sausage sizzle & drink available afterwards!
Car pooling available – add a request when registering.
If you’re attending AJ2025, half your triathlon money goes towards your AJ2025 registration fees.

3rd (Elwood)- 6:15-11:15am
17th (Melbourne)- 6am-12noon
24th (St Kilda)- 6:15-11:15am

8th-11th March

For those wanting to attend AJ2025, Straddie is a MUST. This camp will show to the leaders whether or not you will be able to survive Jamboree, as well as showing off your Scouting skills.

Each year our Unit traditionally participates in the Stradbroke Cup (Straddie) at the Bay Park Scout Camp, Mt Martha, this year it’s over the Labour Day long weekend.
Stradbroke is a three day long camp where Scouts compete against one another through various activities. The camp is run in Patrols with limited input from the Scout Leaders. Patrols are assessed on how well their camp is setup and how well they use the available equipment.
The camp also includes many fun activities. This is a great chance to learn new skills and have loads of fun at the same time.

Potential Outdoor Adventure Skills activities;

  • Camping Outdoor Adventure Skills
  • Bushcraft Outdoor Adventure Skills
  • Milestone Participates, Assists and Leads

6pm Friday 8th March – 4pm Monday 11th March
$80 per person
Drop off and pick up:
at the Scout hall King George VI Reserve
EFT or credit card – refer to the registration form

It’s slowly approaching

For those who haven’t already signed up for Jamboree, please do so soon. We know it is a lot of money but we can guarantee that you can raise it all.
One of our Scouts has already collected enough cans to raise over $1,000 and has also been handing out water at triathlons to earn them more money.

If you need financial help for your child to attend Jamboree, please do not hesitate to ask any of the leaders. We have the resources you need and can assist in helping you write up an application.

The deadline for payments are in September and can be held off until then, however we need your application to be sent in ASAP.
If you need anymore information about Jamboree please do not hesitate to ask any of the leaders during a regular night of Scouts.
