[GROUP]Something exciting is happening!
Hi everyone,
We have some exciting news!
Earlier this year, our group’s leadership team, including all leaders and committee members, initiated discussions on positioning our Scout Group for future success within the community. These conversations largely revolved around marketing strategies and more. One recurring topic was our name.
Years ago, our Scout hall was in the City of Moorabbin, hence the Central Moorabbin portion of our name. The 5th/6th was added when two groups merged in the 1990s. Today, there is a clear disconnect between our name and our location. We’ve identified this misalignment as a potential hindrance to our growth.
After months of consultation including with our youth leadership teams, we agreed it was time for a change. This wasn’t an easy decision due to the historical significance and sentiments attached to our name. However, we collectively agreed it was the right move.
Recently, Scouts Victoria formally approved our new name – Bentleigh East Scout Group!
We’re thrilled about this change as it better aligns with our location, aiding in easier identification.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our journey. Practically, we have some work to do, including updating merchandise, signage on the hall, and providing new name tapes for uniforms.
However, rest assured, this is only a name change; our scarf, leaders, and the programs we run remain the same.
Here’s to the future!
Regards

PS. the runner up on the new name was ‘Scout Group Near Me’ – great for Google hits!!!!
