[Group] October Newsletter

OCTOBER GROUP NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents and Scouts,

It is an exciting time to be part of 5th 6th Moorabbin Central Scout Group. Last night we held our linking night for those scouts who are moving into new sections. Our next Linking night will be in February 2017 and we hope you can join us as we celebrate and support the Scouts as they continue on their Scouting Journey.

Hall Update at King George
The renovation works to date have now been completed by the Council, and our new facility looks amazing other than some painting storage and floor sanding for Stage 1. There is still lots of work to be done, and we have a long list of enhancements that Scout Group needs to undertake.  Scouts Victoria Property Department have reviewed our hall layout and has decided that we need to conform with a few additional compliance matters. Due to this, the Group needs to undertake additional work in conjunction with Scouts Victoria, and this will take place during the months of December / January 2017. We anticipate that we will be fully operational in the new hall by the start of 1st term. So for the remainder of this term current arrangements apply except for big events.

ARAP advance notice
Save the date Tuesday, November 22nd 6:30 till 8 pm. Our theme this year is a South Pacific Theme, as we wish our Venturers a safe trip for those who are going to Fiji. We hope to see lots of Families join us and there will be a competition for the Parent who manages to wear the brightest Hawaiian Shirt and hat. More details soon.

The official Hall opening has been postponed till early 2017.

Help needed
First of all, welcome to our new families who have joined our Group. Now is a great time to get involved in our Committee or as a Leader and support our kids. Many of us have got involved in supporting our kids by taking on a role in our Group or wider Scout Community, and the rewards come back to you in many ways.

We need help from being on the committee, to becoming a Leader to just taking on a small role such as Hall Facility Manager. There is a job for everyone. Please pick up the phone and call me on 0419 884 620 and lets talk about how you can get involved. There is lots of fun to be had and seeing the kidsn  smiling faces as you help out is something money can’t buy.
